Well I bought this about a month ago, when it was still $300. Thought that it was a little spendy for how small it was, limited with no fx knobs and things like that pretty much the basic concept feel when Djing and using a good controller, and only came with vdj LE.

Which has like 10 effects total which only like 1-2 of them are even worthy of using. Its good for a very first controller, although Idk for sure but I'd say going with a numark or something around 200-300 would be more of a Dj feel rather than a little silver box. Like I said its good to start out with to learning the basics mixing, now that its only $180. Id say its a much better deal considering they dropped the price over $100.

I returned this when I saw the NI Kontrol S2 on sale for $400. Paid the extra $100 for a controller 10x better. I would only recommend the RMX for a very first controller, and then return it and get a new one when you get a little more money.The limited knobs, super hard plastic effect buttons and stuff, the jog wheels are tiny which isnt a big bother for me since I dont scratch, but still didnt like them.

The jog wheels work well for me and are sensitive enough for how I mix, but I can understand how a DJ who has worked extensively with vinyl might expect a more realistic feel. Not an issue for me because I've never mixed vinyl. Blue LEDs on certain buttons and indicators are a nice touch, and not too blindingly bright.

Would be nice to have one on every function so you can quickly see what's active, but I suppose that's reserved for the more expensive consoles. The whole installation of console and software took less than five minutes on a fairly new Vista laptop. I started looking into midi controllers this time considering I own all of the digital versions of tracks already, and bought a mac which I've heard tends to work better with hardware controllers. I wanted something that would give me the same features as a Pioneer CDJ and a mid level mixer.

After reviewing a couple units, for the price and bang this model worked well. It also has a built in sound card which means you can output your sound directly to speakers instead of having to go through your computer sound card. The unit is very solid and sturdy, and a bit heavy but I like that since it doesn't make it feel cheap.

With Traktor Pro, I was able to download their midi mapping file and get everything mapped to the controller, including the lights. Only thing so far I can't figure out is how to control effects on the second channel but that again could just be a mapping issue. Sounds quality also sounds pretty good in my opinion.
